Playful Couples Session on the Beach in Ecuador | Manon & Charlie
Manon & Charlie hail from France but were kicking off a big adventure traveling from Colombia down to Argentina when we met. A lot of people would call this a trip of a lifetime, but for anybody addicted to traveling, like I am, it’s just the next adventure.
We met in a remote beach town in Ecuador halfway through my South American adventure. My partner and I were traveling in the opposite direction, from Uruguay up to Mexico, so we were able to exchange a lot of travel tips about all the coutires we’d colletively been through.
But how’d we both end up in the tiny beach town of Puerto Cayo?
Workaway!
If you’re not familiar with Workaway, it’s a website that connects travelers with time & skills to donate with locals around the world looking for cultural exchange and external help on myriad projects. For one week the four of us helped to deconstruct the remnants of an old hotel as well as keep the beach clean. I’ll go more in depth on how Workaway can be a major money saver for long term travel in a later post!
Before Manon & Charlie hit the road again we took a half hour to snag some fun portraits in front of our decrepit building. Long term travel is exciting and overwhelming and isolating. But being together for that grand adventure is what makes these photos so special.
Their journey, through six countries and many months will always be a bright part of their lives. But I’ve found that once you come back there are no amount of slideshows or stories to fully communicate the immensity of what you experienced. These photos capture the small moments of joy inside that big, crazy adventure.
